PMU Installation Guidance
The material below offers guidance for those who want to understand how to install and network new Phasor Measurement Units. While many utilities are installing new PMUs, others are taking existing devices, including DFRs and relays, that have PMU functionality and converting those to act as PMUs (see IEEE C37.118 PMU-capable devices, which lists such devices and offers links to the manufacturers' web sites for additional resources). Other resources explain how to convert such a device, how to install a new PMU, how to interconnect a PMU to the TVA (Eastern Interconnection) and WECC (Western Interconnection) phasor data concentrators, and contacts for additional information.
